The parenting workshop will cover some of the principles of Unschooling (listed below) in a Listening Circle Format.
Deschooling, play participation, inquiry based conversations and other methods as tried and practiced by Deepali and her Son, along with the Unschooling/Homeschooling Community of Pune.
Listening Circle is a way in which we can listen without attaching judgement and meaning that blocks out what the person is actually trying to communicate.
This will be explained and demonstrated in the workshop.
Listening without judgement allows one to hear things for what they are and in turn experience being heard and seen for what may be alive in you about any particular subject or matter.
This way of speaking and listening is based on NVC - Non Violent Communication.

What does our life look like today?
We are living in a state of flow, able to connect and grow together. Challenges are met with a quiet curiosity and creativity. I am able to stay fluid in my work and emotional life generating resources and support creatively to continue on this path. Child is able to attend to his own needs with quiet assertion and inner clarity.
It began with great frustration in the family institution and the social structures in 2014.
To begin with, the aim was to take a sabbatical for a year for both of us. To take time to figure out why I was so dissatisfied and frustrated. In that year we connected with Homeschoolers and unschoolers and tried this way of living. (Child was 5 yo then). Finding that it suited us both greatly, we fully adapted to it. unschooling changed my choices in every area of my life. After 3 years of deschooling our minds and habits we were able to find a routine and choices that worked for us.
Unschooling challenged my set belief systems. Out of introspection with self and community I was able to unlearn, relearn and reorient myself. It has been an exciting journey of REINVENTING everything.
Child went to Kindergarten, Montessori, and Alternate school and then Waldorf Steiner schools and learning centers before he felt he did not enjoy school life. He then took to being a self-learner naturally and quite effortlessly.
100% Unschooling looks like not intervening in the child's choices at all but meeting his needs and choices with open curiosity and engaging moment to moment with it. It also looks like addressing one's own fears and needs to the child and inviting him to participate fully in the resolution of these. Which means I needed to gather enough trust and patience in the unschool way.
I have been an intensely creative person all my life. Being a single parent on a 100% unschooling path made me take radical decisions. These, later, showed the benefits of committing wholeheartedly in the face of challenges and losses.
This radical Trust has translated also in giving me back my health, helping me see how I was always an unschool mind since 40 years and hadn't known it. This allowed me to Own my story, my life choices, my gifts, talents, dreams, desires, my issues and problems more fully. And from this place of ownership new more nurturing and rewarding life, health, relationships and work emerged.
