Welcome to my traditional folk art online experience. In these set of online class, you will learn the history and traditional method of making a Madhubani painting and Warli tribal art, and also will have hands-on experience of creating both types of paintings on paper using basic materials available at home. Also known as Mithila Painting, Madhubani style of art originated in the interiors of Bihar. This style of art is vibrant and eye-catching, with attention seeking patterns and colours. Named after the village Madhubani in the Mithila region. These paintings depict nature and devotional events. The work in these paintings is done with Hindu deities like Ram and Krishna in mind. Warli painting is an ancient Maharashtrian folk art form. On festive occasions, to seek God’s blessings, the tribes decorate the walls of their houses. It’s done on a surface painted with gheru giving it a reddish brown colour. The figures are done using a rice powder or white paint. Simple and dynamic, Warli figures are almost like pictographs.
