Detailed Schedule

Day 1: Arrive at Guwahati/Shillong Airport

  • Arrive at Guwahati/Shillong airport where you meet us and we drive to our accommodation in Shillong. On the way, we visit Umiam Lake and if time permits, the beautiful and popular Ward’s Lake. We stay at Shillong for the night. Spend the evening exploring by yourself at leisure.

Day 2: Explore Shillong

  • Spend the day visiting Elephant falls, donning local attire and trying local food, visiting the Tribal museum, experiencing traditional activities like archery and shopping at the famous Police Bazar.

Day 3: Trip to Mawphlang

  • Known as Nature's museum, Mawphlang is home to the sacred forest harbouring many folklores and unique biodiversity. The sacred forest is guarded since ages by one strict rule: "Nothing is allowed to be taken out of this Sacred Grove, not even a leaf, stone, or dead log." It is believed to be home to the Khasi deity, Labasa. You can take a one hour hike inside the forest to explore it with our guide. You will also immerse in the heritage village and know all about it's culture and history.

Day 4: David Scott Trek

  • David Scott Trail is one of the oldest preserved beauties of Meghalaya. At an altitude of 4,892 ft., this trek spans a distance of 16 kms through mountains, valleys, forests and rivers. Untouched by civilization, this trek is an adventurous ride through history discovered as early as the 1800s. The beauty of this trek is that it can be done by people of all ages. You can choose to take the shorter route if you have children and old people for company.

Day 5: Mawlynnong Village

  • Mawlynnong village, referred to as ‘God’s own garden’, has won the acclaim of being the cleanest village in Asia. The living root bridge happens to be the star attraction of the place. A root which is tangled across a thin strip of stone bridge makes it look stunning above the stream of water which then ended its course in a fall. It also houses an 80 feet high "machan' or observatory made of bamboo shoots. From here, you can view the natural abundance of the place and you can also view Bangladesh from here. Stay in the village at a homestay tonight and live like a local.
Day 6 and Day 7: Explore Cherrapunji

  • After breakfast in the morning, start for the excursion to Cherrapunji. The Cherrapunji circuit of Meghalaya is known for its waterfalls, caves and scenic view points in the hills. We visit Duwan Sing Syiem where the valley view is breathtaking. The V shaped wavy green hills and valleys, the dense forests, the meandering falls and rivers make this view point a spectacular site. We can explore Nohkalikai Falls, Mawsmai Caves, Seven Sister Falls and Eco Park based on what time permits, what you like and how much time you want to spend in each location.

Day 8: Nongriat

  • Nongriat, of course, is famous for the double decker root bridge, Umshiang, which has 3,500 steps descending to it. It is almost a 3.5 km trek to the place from the nearest village, Tyrna. However, Nongriat has much more to offer than just the bridge. Nongriat is a land of legends and tales, secret lagoons, and myriad waterfalls. The residents of this pretty village live in small huts on raised platforms built with wooden planks. Fun Fact: Almost all shops here are run by women and children in the village take on the surname of the mother.

Day 9: Laitlum Canyons

  • Perched on the East Khasi Hills, Laitlum Canyons is a less explored but one of the most picturesque destinations in Meghalaya. The canyons are located about 30 mins away from Shillong. Translating to 'End of hills', this exotic viewing site offers the best panoramic views of the whole of Meghalaya embraced by the majestic hills and valleys. You can choose to take the longer route and trek through the canyons or you can drive up to the top directly and enjoy a peaceful time out in nature. Leave for Shillong in the evening and spend time in the local cafes or live music places in the city as per your wish.

Day 10: Transfer to Airport
