Detailed Schedule

Day 1: Guwahati Airport to Shillong

  • Arrive at Guwahati airport or railway station where you meet us and we drive to Shillong. On the way, we visit Umiam Lake and if time permits, the beautiful and popular Ward’s Lake. We stay at Shillong for the night.

Day 2: Shillong - Cherrapunji

  • After breakfast in the morning, we start for our excursion to Cherrapunji. The Cherrapunji circuit of Meghalaya is known for its waterfalls, caves and scenic view points in the hills. We visit Duwan Sing Syiem where the valley view is breathtaking.The V shaped wavy green hills and valleys, the dense forests, the meandering falls and rivers make this view point a spectacular site.

  • We can explore Nohkalikai Falls, Mawsmai Caves, Seven Sister Falls and Eco Park based on what time permits, what you like and how much time you want to spend in each location. On our drive back, we can also check out Elephant Falls. Feel free to spend the evening at leisure in Shillong. Feel free to explore cafes or go shopping.

Day 3: Mawlynnong - Dawki

  • After breakfast, we drive from Shillong to Mawlynnong Village. This village is located in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya, also referred as ‘God’s own garden’ and in 2003, it won the acclaim of being the cleanest village in Asia. The village offers picturesque natural beauty, an eco-friendly community and a trek to the Single Decker Living Root bridge at a neighboring village, Riwai. 

  • Get curious at the sight of a strange natural phenomenon of a boulder balancing on another rock. Visit Dawki which is near the Bangladesh Border. Fun fact: Here you can actually purchase snacks from Bangladesh! Travelers love to take a boat ride in the Umgot river with crystal clear water. Note: The water is not crystal clear during rainy season.

Day 4: Breathtaking Roadtrip to Tura

  • This day is dedicated to a beautiful road trip through the Shillong-Nongstoin-Tura highway. This road takes us across a breathtaking scenery throughout the entire journey - from undulating velvety meadows to steaming lush forests, as the Khasi Hills pass the baton to the Garo Hills.

Day 5: Immerse in Tura

  • Located in the West Garo Hills, Tura is located at the base of the Tura hills. This place is known for its traditional Garo cuisine, including boiled rice, beef, chicken, pork and dry fish. The place has its own biosphere, and waterfalls and parks for you to connect with nature, too. Spend some quiet time in this village away from the hustle and bustle of cities. 

  • If we can wake up early morning, we can visit the Nokrek Biosphere Reserve. Nokrek has a remnant population of the red panda that has generated curiosity across the world. It is also a habitat of the Asiatic elephant and various species of wild cats, ranging from a small marbled cat to the majestic tiger, and also the habitat of the clouded leopard, the state animal of Meghalaya.

Day 6: Sankarghola

  • After breakfast, we travel to Sankarghola, a small village with just 50 households of the Rabha tribe. Experience Rabha cuisine, culture and attire while living in a homestay in the village. We can spend the evening boating at the picturesque Dolani lake.

Day 7: Kakaijana - Ultapani

  • After breakfast, we explore Kakaijana and then head over to the Ultapani Reserve Forest for a short trek. Ultapani is the “Haven of Butterfly” and the natural home of Golden langur as well as the famous Great Pied Hornbill. Orchids are also the strength of Ultapani Reserve Forest. Our lunch today would be an ethnic lunch in a village.

Day 8: Ultapani - Saralpara

  • We spend the morning exploring tribal villages of Assam near Ultapani with Nepali, Adivasi and Bodo tribes. We meet people from the village immerse in their culture, crafts and stories. 

  • After lunch, we travel to the Indo-Bhutan border near the Saralpara river. Saralpara shares a border with our very close neighbor Bhutan. The view of Bhutan's mountains, clear rivulets moving through the valley and sumptuous green grasses on the bank of the stream, make Saralpara a hyptonzing experience. You can also swim or relax at the river. We go back to the homestay or if the weather permits, we can camp at the riverbank if we like.

Day 9: Raimona National Park

  • We spend the first half of the day with a jeep safari at the Raimona National Park exploring the unique flora and fauna of Assam. After an ethnic lunch, we meet the Bodo tribe and spend the evening enjoying a cup of tea with them. We can explore Bodo cuisine for dinner today.

Day 10: Transfer to Guwahati Airport

  • We drop you to the airport and say goodbye today with a lot of cherished memories of a unique and immersive journey in Northeast India.
